After nearly five months of the rigours of managing the Nigerian national team; the Super Eagles without seeing his family, Eagles boss, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi on Tuesday night departed for the United States to see his family.
There had been fears that Keshi will again miss seeing his family following the institution of a friendly against the Pharaohs of Egypt and the heavy schedule that will follow in the month of May and June, with friendlies and qualifiers lined up for the national team.
But after a meeting with the NFF leadership, it was agreed that Keshi be allowed to visit his family and join the team in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on April 9, on time for the duel that will be played April 12 at the same venue.
Keshi had dropped his list of players for the encounter with the Technical Committee of the NFF, and the list which was earlier scheduled to be released on Wednesday, will now be pushed out on Friday, while the team resumes camp on Monday, April 2, 2012. Camp venue remains Bolton White Hotel and Apartments.
Keshi had already told the NFF leadership that he was delighted with the friendly against the Pharaohs of Egypt, as it would afford him the opportunity of playing his burgeoning home-based side against the all-time African Nations Cup winner.
In Keshi’s absence, Dan ‘the Bull’ Amokachi, will take charge along side Sylvanus Okpala, Hyndounou Valere and Ike Shorunmi.
